Class Trainers at Chewies and Private Lessons

Katrin From Beyond Sit:

Compassionate. Patient. Knowledgeable. These are just a few of the characteristics that make me the trainer you want to work with. I know each dog is different, and I’ll work with you and yours to implement a specific training plan to get the results you are looking for. Whether you’re thinking about getting an animal, have a new pup, or already own a pet who needs basic training, behavior modification, or increased enrichment, I am here to help.

I use positive reinforcement paired with choice based training methods to first teach your dog how to learn, and then get them to want to make good choices. I focus on improving your relationshipu with your dog so they want to become the loyal and trusting family companion you always hoped to have.

After a life-long interest in dog training, including a first job at a humane society in high-school and college, adopting a dog that needed behavior modification, and several years fostering dogs that were often behavior cases, I finally took the leap and turned my once hobby into a profession. I am a certified professional dog trainer (CPDT-KA) through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, and a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers.

Lindsey Shaklee Felix and Fido 603 Training:

When I was a child, I wanted to grow up to be a dog... it turns out that's not a thing. So instead, I spent my life learning about them. In college, I studied the psychology of learning and behavior and trained pigeons in Skinner boxes and rats in mazes, in addition to teaching dog training classes at the local training center.  For my master's degree, I studied teaching and conservation biology.  I have worked in animal shelters and service dog facilities and raised about 2 dozen puppies (some mine and some for Service and Guide Dogs Organizations).  In addition to dogs, I'm also passionate about conservation and have been blessed with the opportunity to combine my two loves and train and handle my own dog, "Scout," on several conservation detection projects.  Scent work is a particular fascination of mine and I have helped train dogs for tracking, search and rescue, conservation, and medical detection work.  I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and a Family Dog Mediator (FDM). I started Felix and Fido 603 in 2023, and love helping clients learn their dog's amazing abilities (and quirks), better understand the dog's unique needs, and develop a respectful relationship that takes into account the needs of both dogs and people.
